I find the best way to light these is to use BBQ lighting fluid (dribble a bit in the bottom) or cooking oil/paper if you want to be environmentally friendly, or use your method as it allows you to put more wood in it.

This model’s only really meant for use in the garden, so a power supply is OK I guess.

I’ve made another video of the XL model stove, which runs off a couple of AA batteries, so is eminently portable. I charge the batteries for that from a solar panel, and get about 15 hours use from one set of batteries.

I know it would be better if it had no batteries, but you can’t get efficient gasification without a fan or a chimney, and chimney’s aren’t very portable…

“the power goes in here” not something your suposed to hear when it comes to outdoorsman stuff…….. seriously, make your own without a fan, out of basicly nothing………. then it will be good enough for outdoor use…….

You need something stretchy, so an old bike inner tube is ideal, and it’s better than putting it in the rubbish

For use as a heater, you have to remember that the sides of the stove are not hot, so ideally you want the stove to be lower than where you’re sitting, so you get the benefit of the heat.

This was my first go using it, and it was just me, so I expect I’ll find out more about the best way to use it next time I light it with some friends visiting.

I think a full load would burn for at least 90 minutes, but you can top it up gradually as you go. I’m going to try different fuels in coming months.

Thanks. I’d wanted to see a MEGA demo. What do you think of it for a patio burner? How long with a load burn, such as the one shown in your video?
